History

Medstar Laboratory, Inc. was founded in 1974 and serviced the Chicago metropolitan area. In February 2001, the Patel family took ownership. Under their administration the company has expanded its client base to Wisconsin and Indiana experiencing an extraordinary growth.

With Naren Patel at the head of the company, Medstar Laboratory, Inc. took on a community first attitude, helping with several charitable causes in the areas we serve. Mr. Patel’s two sons, Neal and Raj Patel, have been instrumental in the expansion of Medstar Laboratory, Inc. by taking initiative and becoming personally involved in the day-to-day operations of the company. Neal is the head of Marketing and Business Development. He strongly believes in staying involved in the marketing process, by visiting potential and existing clients on a regular basis. Raj manages the inside operations ensuring our clients quality service and accurate results. He oversees the diagnostic testing, as well as all internal operations. He believes in a hands-on management style integrating himself as part of the team. This family-oriented environment has fostered the kind of rapid growth that very rarely we see with privately-held businesses.

Leadership Team:

Naren Patel - Founder : Naren Patel started as a pharmacist who slowly acquired medical centers, employing doctors and other medical staff before his involvement with Medstar Laboratory. Patel’s limited participation is due to his humanitarian efforts with which he spends much time allowing for Medstar to take part in such organizations as Care & Share and Rainbow Push. One of his greatest accomplishments was having helped build a school in India for the underserved, in association with Care & Share. He also provided free health fairs throughout the communities we serve.

Neal Patel - Chief Executive Officer

Neal Patel worked in the finance and technology industries prior to his venture with Medstar Laboratory. He brought with him over 11 years of exceptional knowledge, having worked with technology giant Motorola. With Neal’s direct involvement in the business development team, Medstar Lab has implemented new and innovative techniques to enhance our retainment and acquisition of clients.

Raj Patel - Chief Operating Officer

Raj Patel has worked in the medical field for the past 10 years. First having worked at Cook County Hospital as an Occupational Therapist, and then at Merck Pharmaceuticals as a Sales Representative before becoming Chief Operating Officer at Medstar Laboratory, Inc. Raj’s medical background has allowed Medstar to keep up with the rapid growth experienced by the company allowing the internal operations to maintain a steady and efficient workflow.

Dr. Bryant has been a practicing pathologist since 1978. During his 32 years of experience, he has written 47 publications in the Pathology Medical Journals. Managing ____ well established laboratories, while also having performed high profiled autopsies such as that of John Wayne Gacy. He wrote the original description of selective IgG deficiency.

Raman Patel has 20 years experience overseeing the daily operations of a clinical laboratory and 27 years as a Senior Research Scientist with SmithKline Beecham/GSK. Raman Patel has brought a level of commitment to accuracy in all aspects of the diagnostic testing process.
