Dr. Vijay Dave, a philanthropist, is well-known for his humanitarian services in the medical field. Many medical graduates have been trained under his guardian and externship and succeeded in getting residency program. He has also helped many students financially to achieve their goals.
Dr. Dave has been serving as the chairman and board trustee of Lake County Medical Society since January 2013. He has been a Director of Medical Education at St. Mary Medical Center since 1981. He was a member and commissioner of Medical Education in Indiana State Medical Society during 2011-14. He was the chairman of the executive committee of St. Mary Medical Center in 1998, 1999, 2002-2007 and a member of the executive committee from 1981 to 2012. In 2005, Dr. Dave was appointed as the chairman of the Medical Education Committee of Methodist Hospital. The same year, he was also appointed as the chairman of Bylaws Committee of St. Margaret Mercy Hospital.
To appreciate his teaching ability and his tireless and selfless effort in training medical students, St. Mary Medical Center on September 19, 2004 dedicated Medical Education Conference Center in Dr. Vijay Dave’s name, which was inaugurated by Indiana State Governor Joe Kernan.
In 2014, Dr. Dave was the president of the Indiana Medical Association. During his 35 years of medical practice, Dr. Dave has been chairman, commissioner, president and board member to many hospitals and medical society. The list is endless.

In 2004, Dr. Dave was honored with the highest civilian award “Sagamore of Wabash Award” presented by the then Indiana State Governor, Joe Kernan. In 2006, he was the recipient of “Glory of Gujarat Award” given by Governor of Gujarat, India. In 1999, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley honored him with “Certificate of Appreciation for Exceptional Contribution as Outstanding Person.” He was also the recipient of “Humanitarian Services Award” from Natubhai Thakkar Foundation, a social organization in Ahmedabad, India. In 2004, he was honored with “International Physician of the Year Award” by Cardiovascular Wellness Center and Holiday Club in New Delhi, India. In 1990, Chitrahar, a well-known community Television program in Chicago, honored Dr. Dave with “Community Service Award.” In 2013, Dr. Dave received a gold medal from the Indian Community Organization, Indiana. In 2014, Pinnacle Hospital honored him with “Outstanding Leadership Award.”
